English Translation

This land is Afghanistan!
It is the pride of every Afghan.
The land of peace, the land of the sword.
Its sons are all brave.

This is the country of every tribe,
The land of Baloch and Uzbeks,
Pashtuns and Hazaras,
Turkmen and Tajiks.

With them, Arabs and Gujjars,
Pamiris, Nuristanis,
Brahuis and Qizilbash,
Also Aimaqs and Pashayis.
This Land will shine for ever,
Like the sun in the blue sky.
In the chest of Asia,
It will remain like the heart forever.

We will follow the one God;
We all say, Allah is great!
We all say, Allah is great!

The war-torn land of Afghanistan has more to offer in terms of myriad culture, and the presence of rich heritage which has always been a part of its distinct identity to the outer world. The present day national anthem of Afghanistan is known as "Soroud-e-Melli" and is written in Pashto. The national song was finally adopted in May in the year 2000. The lyrics were penned down by Abdul Bari Jahani and the music was composed by Babrak Wassa.

The significance of the national anthem of Afghanistan lies in the fact that the song glorifies the land and proclaims it to be the country of Baluch, Uzbeks, Pashtoons, Hazaras, Turkmen, Tajiks, Arabs, Gojars, Pamirian, Nooristanian, Barahawi, Qizilbash, Aimaq and Pashaye. Also the national song pays homage to the creator of the universe and exalts that the land is home to brave heroes who would always make the Afghans feel proud of their motherland.
