France is a country with a violent and dramatic history spanning many wars, especially the memorable and exciting French Revolution. The revolution started with the national cry for Equality, Liberty and Fraternity and brought in sweeping reforms to France. The storming of the Bastille in 1789, (the symbol of supression and atrocities of the rulers) is regarded as the start of the revolution in France - the real revolution for independence. The Bastille Day is celebrated on the 14th of July to commemorate this day. |
