The present day flag of Saudi Arabia has its origins in 18 th century well connected with the Wahhabi reformist movement. This movement gave rise to as-Saud family and entitled them with greater power when Abdulaziz ibn Abdulrahman as-Saud took up the charge as King of the Nejd in 1902.
